Can someone KNOW that they are saved and on their way to Heaven? YES! The Bible was written so that we could know this!
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life… –I John 3:15
What does it mean to be saved? When a person is saved, they are saved FROM something and TO something. First, they are saved FROM sin and the consequences of sin. The Bible says that every person that has ever lived, except the Lord Jesus Christ, is a sinner.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. –Romans 3:23
Since God is holy, our sin separates us from fellowship with God. Our sin also separates us from an eternal life in Heaven. The Bible says that the just consequence of our sin is death in an eternal hell.
For the wages of sin is death… –Romans 6:23
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. –Revelation 20:14
Have you admitted to God that you are a sinner?
God is not only holy, He is also loving. Jesus loved us so much that He came to this world. He took on human flesh and lived a sinless life. Since He never sinned, He didn’t have to die. But He did die! He died in your place! A holy, loving, righteous God accepts the death of Jesus Christ as a substitute for your death and punishment in hell.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. –Romans 6:23
Our good works can’t get us to Heaven because good works don’t erase past sins.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. –Ephesians 2:8-9
Only by accepting what Christ did for us can we be sure we are saved. Have you asked the Lord to save you from sin and hell? Have you thanked Him for dying for you? Have you asked Him to save you and to make you ready for Heaven?
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. –Romans 10:13
What is a person saved TO? They are saved to a new relationship – a child of God. They can have fellowship with God. And they have the promise of God of a home in Heaven for all eternity.
If you are not saved, you can be saved today! Just ask Him!
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. –II Corinthians 6:2
You must ask Him to save you and believe that He is able.
(It is not a particular prayer that saves you, but your faith in Him.)
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and that I do not deserve Heaven. But I believe you died for my sins and paid the price for me. Jesus, please forgive me of my sins, and save me today as you promised you would. Thank you for saving me, Jesus. Amen.
Have you asked Him yet? Don’t wait any longer!
